Mold Illness
Do you experience chronic fatigue, brain fog, headaches, sinus issues, or sensitivity to smells? Mold exposure can silently drain your energy and disrupt multiple systems in the body. Other symptoms may include muscle aches, frequent infections, dizziness, frequent static shocks and difficulty concentrating (see full symptom list here).
If you feel like you’ve tried everything and nothing’s worked, chances are you haven’t addressed the right root cause yet. Think of it like a car—you wouldn’t fix a dead battery by topping up the fuel. The same logic applies to your body: if something’s not working, there’s a physiological reason why.
Identifying and addressing those underlying factors is the crucial first step. And that’s exactly what I help my patients do—through 1:1 sessions, functional testing and my Energy Reset Program—so they can stop guessing and start truly recovering their energy. Join us!
Read on to learn how mold can cause fatigue, and what you can do about it.
What’s Going On in the Body?
Mold produces mycotoxins that act as neurotoxins, impairing mitochondrial function and energy production. Mycotoxins also trigger chronic inflammation and immune dysfunction, leading to excessive oxidative stress and poor detoxification. Additionally, mold exposure can disrupt the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, contributing to dysregulated cortisol levels and further fatigue. Many individuals with mold illness also develop multiple chemical sensitivities due to mast cell activation.
What You Can Do About It:
Work with a practitioner: Avoid making things worse by treating mold too fast. Always start by improving elimination (sweating, daily bowel movements and proper hydration) and follow guidance from your practitioner.
Join FIRED UP Energy Reset Program, where we uncover your root causes of fatigue so you can get your energy back for good.
Reduce exposure: Identify and address mold in your home with proper remediation and follow an antifungal diet
Support detox pathways: Glutathione, binders (charcoal, bentonite clay), and sauna therapy can assist in toxin removal.
Heal the immune system: Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) and anti-inflammatory herbs like curcumin may help modulate immune response.
Testing Options: MycoTOX profile, Organic Acid Testing, inflammatory markers (TGF-beta1, MMP-9), and HLA-DR genetic testing.
